I have created a computer controlled disco and theatre light project. Originally this started out as an Arduino project, but I then updated it to use a Raspberry Pi so that it could be controlled from a computer instead.
The project uses low voltage (12v) Par16 cans to reduce the risks associated with mains voltage electricity. In particular this needs to be for LED bulbs which use much less power than halogen bulbs.
This is the circuit diagram of the full circuit including the Raspberry Pi. I've also added an inline fuse in case of a problem with the circuit.
I have used this at a disco for my son's birthday and gave a demo at the Raspberry Pi 4th birthday party.
More details are available from the slides from my demonstration
